Fijn uitgesneden Baulé masker
Dit mooie masker is afkomstig van de Baulé stam
uit Ivoorkust. Het is mooi uitgesneden uit hardhout
en heeft een ingetogen gezichtsuitdrukking. Bovenaan
zijn 2 vogelfiguren gesitueerd.

Oud Masker van Dan stam
Dit mooie masker is afkomstig van de Dan stam.
Het is uit hardhout gesneden en heeft een ingetogen
gelaatsuitdrukking. Het is aan de bovenzijde versierd
met 2 rijen cowry schelpen met daartussen een rij
gekleurde kralen welke op een soort stof bevestigd zijn.
Aan de randen zijn er gaten gemaakt voor raffia en grassen
om het lijf van de danser te verhullen. De ouderdom
van dit masker is moeilijk te duiden. Het is zeker authentiek
en o.i. minstens 75 jaar oud.

This diptych is carved in dark, fairly hard stone, which is
found in the area around Axum.
Axum is located in Northern Ethiopia and has been an
important city since the 4th century the religious center
of the Christian Orthodox church in Ethiopia.
The icon consists of a front and back with each
1 single representation of angel figures. Open
the inside contains 8 smaller representations in which
elements of religious stories are depicted.
